Charlotte Mae Dixon, age 90, was surrounded by her loving family when she went to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven on September 6, 2026. 

Charlotte was born in Ardoch, North Dakota, in 1935 to Ed and Carrie Heffern. She was one of seven children. She graduated from high school in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 1953. Later in life, she attended Tri-Tech School at CBC in the Tri-Cities, Washington.

Charlotte worked in the medical profession in Sacramento, California, and Kennewick, Washington. In 1957, she married her husband, Billy J. Dixon, in Sacramento. Over the next few years, Charlotte and Bill joyfully welcomed three children into their family.

In the mid-1960s, they moved their family to Poyen, Arkansas, where they purchased acreage and built a home. Charlotte became very active in the school and community, serving as president of the PTA. In 1969, Charlotte and Bill moved their family to Kennewick, Washington, where they would reside for the rest of their lives.

Charlotte loved and lived life to the fullest. To everyone who knew her, there was nothing more important to Charlotte than her deep and unwavering love for her family and friends—including the many friends who became family. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to always be there for those who needed her. 

And, of course, we can never forget Charlotte’s iconic style, her unforgettable dance moves, her love of laughter and storytelling, and her hilarious sense of humor. Her comedic timing was impeccable. We always said Charlotte was a combination of Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, all mixed into one genuine, amazing, and truly one-of-a-kind woman.

Charlotte took great pride in being there for others whenever they needed her. Her greatest joy was gathering her family together for holidays, celebrations, conversations, laughter, and simply spending quality time with the people she cherished most. 

Charlotte is survived by her children, Roxane (Jordan) Ayers of Tucson, Arizona; Rochelle (David) Heiman; and Shawn Dixon, all of Kennewick, Washington. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tiffany Ayers, Nichelle Moore, Demi Dixon (Dalton Mortensen), and Morgan Heiman; her great-grandchildren, Cash Mortensen and Stormi Moore; her sister, Mary McClain of Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved with all her heart. She is also survived by the many people who lovingly called her “Mom” and “Grandma” throughout the years. 

Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy J. Dixon; her parents, Ed and Carrie Heffern; her stepfather, Harry Michalski; her sisters, Evelyn Jensen and Adelaide Sanders; and her brothers, James Heffern, John Heffern, and Hank Heffern. 

Charlotte left a lasting imprint on every life she graciously touched, and she always carried immense gratitude in her heart for those who touched hers. Her legacy of love, kindness, laughter, generosity, and devotion to her family will live on through all those who were blessed to know and love her. 

Her memory will forever be cherished, her stories will continue to be told, and her laughter will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
