Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles (Skip) Gier on November 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at home. Born in Waverly, Iowa, to Charles and Doris Gier, Skip led a life distinguished by service, resilience, and adventure.

In the late 1960s, Skip honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to the Kennewick Fire Department, where he was injured while heroically assisting a person from a burning building. After his recovery, Skip embraced new roles as a farmer and business owner, and his work in fiber optics took him across the United States. His life was a testament to perseverance and adaptability.

Skip is survived by his two sons, Daniel Gier and Micah Gier, and six cherished grandchildren. He will be remembered for his courage, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. Skip leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A celebration of Skip's life will be held on December 13th at 1:00 PM at Mueller's Tri Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA 99338. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a gathering at the Finley Grange, 223005 E Main St., Kennewick, WA, at 2:30 PM. This will be a potluck event; guests are encouraged to bring hot or cold dishes and sides. Chicken and sides that Skip enjoyed will also be served.
