Charles Joseph Rollet of Richland passed away October 2nd with his loving family around him. He was born April 14, 1937 in San Francisco, CA. to Charles and Helen Rollet. He graduated from Chaminade High School with honors and attended St. Mary?s College graduating with an Associate of Science Degree in zoology continuing his education at the University of San Francisco and the University of Hawaii. While at St. Mary?s College, he entered the Society of Mary Marianists and continued his journey in becoming a teaching Brother. He taught at St. Anthony?s on Maui and, after much soul searching, he chose to leave the Brothers. He was fortunate enough to secure a job with the Hawaiian Bureau of Commercial Fisheries studying Albacore Tuna habits in the South Pacific where he served as chief scientist. Once this adventure was completed, he worked at Stauffer Chemical Co. in the research department. During his tenure there, he was a reserve police officer for the San Pablo Police Dept. later becoming a police officer. He worked in law enforcement for the next 13 years. He was a man of many diverse talents and interests. He turned his love of tropical fish into a thriving part time breeding business and was recognized by the San Francisco Aquarium Society as a master fish breeder. He also taught at Los Medanos College and Alameda High School. His love for Hawaii brought him back to Maui where he began an accounting business in his home while being a stay-at-home Dad which he thoroughly enjoyed. He always had an avid interest in technology and computers. He put his knowledge to use by creating a data base for the Hawaiian Bureau of Vital Statistics computerizing their forms. After 25 years on Maui, he moved his family to the Tri-Cities. He was hired by Tri-Cities Preparatory Catholic High School where he had many hats ? bookkeeper, webmaster, teacher and disciplinarian. He felt he was blessed to become involved in the Prep community where his children attended. His thirst for knowledge made him an effective teacher both in and out of the classroom. He was a generous and compassionate man who loved his family and who was loved in return. He will be missed. He married his devoted and loving wife, Gail Flora, on August 12, 2006 and their time together ended too soon. He is survived by Verna the mother of Nancy William Verhayden, Charles, Carol Charles Jeffus and Maria the mother of Leanne and Jennifer; four grandchildren, Rachel Verhayden, William Verhayden, Tami David Williams and Bradley Jeffus; two stepchildren, Amanda Jereme Jenne and Allison Flora, two sisters, Judy Eddy and Helen Smart, and three nieces and a nephew. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 7th at Mueller?s Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union, Kennewick, WA. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick?s Church, 1320 W. Henry, Pasco, WA .
