Charles Giske Maynard, 86, of Kennewick, Washington, passed away on October 24th after his continuous battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Chuck was born on September 30, 1937, to Charles and Mary Maynard in Tacoma, Washington. On April 1, 1967, he married Janet Ann Henze. They began their married life with Chuck's son, Charles Gene, from a previous marriage, and went on to have two more children, Cynthia Sue (Butler) and Beverly Kay (Rose), together. Chuck and Jan spent 56 years together until July 1, 2023, when Janet succumbed to complications from Dementia.

Chuck was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. He was unendingly proud of Chuck, Cyndi, and Bev and always tried to support them. Each of his children played sports through grade school and high school and he attended as many events as he could. As his children grew older and started having children of their own, his grandchildren became a focal point in his life. He made time to spend a week with them over the summer, as well as, making the time to attend games or sporting events of those that played. He often spoke of his seven grandchildren and how pleased he was of all that each has accomplished so far in their lives.

Chuck and Janet were fortunate to have a second home in Palm Desert, California. They spent the winters in California and would travel back to the Tri-Cities in the late spring in order to spend time with their families in Washington. In California, Chuck and Jan were avid shuffleboard players, playing multiple tournaments throughout the year. Chuck was an involved participant and took over as President of the Shuffleboard Association in the living community he and Jan resided in. They were both loved dearly by their community members and will be missed greatly.

Anyone who knew Chuck knew that he was a loving father and husband. Chuck was predeceased by both his mother and father (Charles and Mary Maynard), his sister (Barbetta), and his wife (Janet). Chuck is survived by his son (Chuck Maynard), his daughters (Cyndi Butler (Thomas) and Beverly Rose (Tony), and his grandchildren (Tiffani Woart, Michael Maynard, Jennifer Sharma, Kristine Knutson, Christian Rodriguez, Chloe Rose, and Carter Rose).

There will be a viewing at Mueller's Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023, and the funeral service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 9:00 am at Mueller's Funeral Home located at 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA 99338. There will be a memorial/celebration of life from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Mueller's Hospitality room at 314 W. 1st Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336.
