Carolyn Jean
Furniss
Oct 18, 1943 — Aug 14, 2023
Carolyn Jean (Mitchell) Furniss returned home to the arms of her loving Heavenly Parents and eternal companion Douglas on August 14, 2023. She is survived by her brother William (Bill), Seven children and their spouses, 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Doug, brother Robert and 2 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was born to Hester and Robert Mitchell in Twin Falls, Idaho October 18, 1943, and spent her younger years in Idaho, Washington and California. Carolyn married Doug in July of 1963 in Jerome, Idaho. Carolyn and Doug moved to Tri-Cities, WA with their first two children in 1966. Their family increased in size as the Tri-Cities flourished. It was a good place to grow Furnisses.
Carolyn had a good sense of humor, offered abundant advice, and had a talent for perseverance through the challenges of mortal life. Her mother taught her to be tolerant, kind and to give others the benefit of doubt no matter who they were, how they treated her, or where they came from. She exemplified those characteristics her entire life.
Carolyn loved baseball and was a season ticket holder for the Dust Devils. She loved reading, roses and her pets. Carolyn enjoyed taking her grandchildren to movies and her friends to lunch. She appreciated the opportunity to spend time with those she loved.
A devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, Carolyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We believe her relationships with Jesus Christ and her family continue now in heaven and through all the eternities. Jesus Christ is the Savior of us all.
Carolyn leaves a legacy of faithful, hard-working, compassionate children, and brilliant and beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were and remain her pride and joy.
The Furniss family would like to thank the medical professionals and staff at Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Life Care Center of Kennewick and Royal Columbian Retirement Home for their skillful care and kindness to Carolyn.
