Carl Paine Schroeder Sr, 88 years old, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was born March 28, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Martin and Nettie Schroeder. He was the youngest of three children, his brother Martin Jr., sister Shirley and parents proceeded him in death.
After graduating from Thibodaux High School in 1954, Carl worked a couple odd jobs for a year before entering the Air Force. After his honorable discharge he attended LSU where he received his degree in Electrical Engineering. Carl then started a job in Rochester New York where a friend introduced him to Judy Kemp. They were married a few short months later and had a wonderful 61-year marriage. Two children were born from this union.
Carl's career sent the family around the United States where they finally landed in Richland, WA in 1977. He worked at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation as an Electrical Engineer and later as a manager until retiring in 1995. Upon retirement, he and Judy traveled around the world, visiting every continent. Carl's fondest memory was traveling to the Holy lands, but he was always happy to be back home.
Judy, the love of his life passed away in November 2023. Carl is survived by; sons Carl Schroeder Jr. (Jill); and Michael Schroeder (MaryJo); grandchildren Jaryd, Jordan (Paola), Patrick and Jason. He was a stoic person with a great sense of humor; and was a man of few words, but very compassionate donating to many charities.
Carl was extremely involved in the Richland Lutheran Church, where he and Judy taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a member of the Gideons helping to spread the word of Christ. His love, generosity and goofy facial expressions will be greatly missed.
