Carl Louis Owen was called home to rest on April 21, 2010 at the age of 85 to join his beloved grandson, Carter in Heaven. Carl was born February 9, 1925 in Portland, OR and joined the US Navy Air immediately after high school in 1943 to serve his country in WWII for six years. In 1953 Carl married Phillis Sipp and together they raised three daughters. He adored "his girls" and gave them the gifts of a love for music, travel, education, the outdoors and the ability to embrace all that life brings. As a family they enjoyed countless adventures of sightseeing, camping, fishing and music. Carl retired from Fluor Daniel Hanford in 1988 after 37 years of service in nuclear management for all the reactors. Carl was a past member of the VFW, Hanford Management Association, Pasco Moose, Kennewick Eagles and Tri-City Travelers and present member of American Legion, Kennewick Senior Center and Tri-City Woodcarvers. He and Phillis have enjoyed traveling, beachcombing, dancing, woodcarving, volunteering at the Kennewick Senior Center and many other hobbies in their 22 years of retirement. Their love and devotion to each other throughout 56 years of marriage was reflected in their daily lives and serves as an inspiration for us all. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lloyd and Hattie Ringo Owen; sister, Allene Goffard; and his grandson, Carter Louis Turner. He leaves to mourn his wife, Phillis; and daughters Pamela Rob Jacobson, Casandra David Forrester and Ryanne Turner. The family will have a graveside service with military honors on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
