Carl Edwin Hensyel, 59, of Pasco, Washington, went to his final resting place on Saturday, October 29, 2011. He was surrounded by his family. Born on July 28, 1952 to Eugene and Mary Lou Hensyel in Richland, Washington, Carl spent his childhood with his three brothers playing baseball and getting into trouble. He graduated from Kennewick High School in 1970 and continued on to Grey's Harbor Community College on a wrestling scholarship and finished his education degree at the University of Idaho where he was the team captain for the wrestling team. In July, 1973 Carl married his high-school sweetheart Cindy Junt Johnson with whom he welcomed his daughter, Jami, and son, Randy. He began his teaching career at Columbia Burbank School District where he taught for 30 years at all three levels before retiring. Along the way, he coached wrestling, softball, and football and spent the last 11 years as the athletic director. The friends he made amongst faculty and students alike were life-long. Retirement in 2008 allowed Carl to spend his time doing what he enjoyed most: fishing with buddies, participating in his fantasy sports leagues, traveling to Las Vegas and Mexico, and his newest passion which was spoiling his three granddaughters. Carl is survived by his daughter Jami Jack Bunger, of Pasco, WA; son Randy Hensyel of Spokane, WA; brother Tom Nikki Hensyel of Kennewick, WA; brother Glenn Hensyel of Modesto, CA; sister-in-law Sherree Hensyel of Modesto, CA; granddaughters Avery, Addisyn, and Audra Bunger of Pasco, WA; special friends David and Lorry Perkins of Kennewick, WA; and Cindy Johnson of Pasco, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mary Lou Hensyel and brother Allan Hensyel. The memorial service will be Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at The First Christian Church 1921 S. Olympia St. in Kennewick.
