Burton "Bud" Carmichael passed away April 8, 2014 at his home in Kennewick. He was born September 22, 1923 to Alice (Taylor) and Charles H. Carmichael in Overton, Nebraska. Bud was raised on a farm with his twin sister and five brothers. Bud served in the Marine Corps in WWII. He attended Napa Valley College and CBC. While employed as sales manager for Montgomery Ward, he met and married Maxine "Mickey" Dodd in Kelso, Washington. They relocated to Kennewick, WA to raise their family. Bud worked in construction at Hanford for several years. Bud and Mickey invested in rental properties and businesses over the years. Upon retirement, they bought a farm in the shadow of Mt. Baker where they raised Charolais and Simmental cattle, always had a huge garden, welcoming family and friends to share in the experience. Bud also enjoyed making homemade soups, gardening, fishing, RV travel, and dominoes with family and friends. Bud is survived by daughters Paula Culverhouse and Guyla Pelleboer (Herman); five grandchildren Justin Culverhouse (Jennifer), Teagan Culverhouse, and Jordan Culverhouse; Stacy Van Werven (Jordan) and Kevin Pelleboer (Tanya); seven great-grandsons, Hunter, Connor, and Oliver Culverhouse; Kohen, Bryson and Nolan Van Werven; and Corbin Pelleboer; brother Chuck (Barbara) Carmichael; close family and friends Terry Culverhouse, Bridget Rodasky, Robin Hill and Frances Camp; and his beloved ragdoll cat, Miss Irma la Douce. He was preceded in death by Maxine, his wife of 62 years; son Steven Max Carmichael, great-grandchildren Tristan, Sophia and Charlotte Culverhouse; four brothers and twin sister Betty Hollander. The family would like to thank Hospice at The Chaplaincy for their long term support and care. Additionally, the exemplary care of Professional Care Management brought great comfort to Bud and his family over the past few months. Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, Kennewick, is in charge of arrangements. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
