Bruce Edward Scott, age 65, was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on March 25, 1946 and passed on July 22, 2011 at Life Care Center of Kennewick. He struggled for many years with complications of Congestive Heart Failure and Kidney Failure. He attended school in Colorado Springs, Colorado and joined the U.S. Navy as a reservist before he was out of high school. He served in Viet Nam in 1966 and then was stationed state side in Tacoma, Washington aboard the USS Marshall DD 676 where he met and married his wife Dorothy "Dorrie" Bryan. They resided in Concord, California for approximately 10 years where he worked at the Naval Weapons Station Concord and the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. In 1978, they moved to the Tri-City area of Washington and resided for the next 33 years. Bruce worked as a Hanford Patrolman for 20 years and then as a Nuclear Chemical Operator for 10 years. Throughout his working career, he served on and helped develop several employee unions including jobs in California and Washington State. He had many activities that he enjoyed including pistol shooting and photography. While at Hanford Patrol he was able to be on the Traveling Pistol Team and was able to achieve his goal of Master. Bruce was a member of the National Rifle Association and of the American Legion. When he changed careers he was able to advance to position of a lead Nuclear Chemical Operator. Because of his long time employment at Hanford, he gained many acquaintances and longtime friends throughout the Tri-City area. Each time he was around town, there was always someone saying "Hello" to him. He was preceded in death by his father Richard E. Scott in 1974 and his step father Ken Schultz in 1992 and also by his father-in-law James Bryan in 1994. A young niece, Kimberly James lost her life in 1991. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harold and Maxine Johnson of Colorado and his maternal grandparents Harris and Aurelia Sheldon of Colorado. He is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Dorrie Scott of Kennewick, Washington and their daughters and husbands, who were like his sons, Tina and Chris Bolten of Kennewick, Washington and Katie and Shawn Corbaley, formerly of Utah, and recently of Spokane, Washington. He adored his grandchildren who all survive him, Cassandra Bolten Johnson and her husband Alex of Kennewick, Washington, Nicole Bolten of Kennewick and their younger brother Zack Bolten of Kennewick. Bruce's other grandchildren also include Sarah, Mark and Matthew Corbaley. Bruce's mother Beth Schultz of Fairfield, California survives him as well as his two sisters, Elizabeth Romedy and Ginny James and Ginny's husband Jim, all of California. Also, surviving him are his niece Lisa James of Fairfield, California and nephew Rob Sopp and family of Vallejo, California and nephew Kelly Beach of Colorado. Surviving Bruce in his wife's family are his mother-in-law, Addie Gilmore Bryan of Kennewick and his sister-in-law Patty and husband John Toews of Woodland, Washington. Bruce is also survived by his wife's niece Lisa and her husband Eric Percival of Virginia and their children. He also leaves behind his many cousins-in-law and his wife's extended family of which he had grown very familiar with and fond of. The family wishes to extend recognition to Life Care Center of Kennewick and great thanks are given to many of the nursing staff of that center for their ability to tend to his needs. Many thanks are sent to cardiologists Drs. Randall Farrar, Douglas Wysham and Jack Leonard. Appreciation also goes to Drs. Emad Khieran, Alex Najera and Fareed Arif. Heartfelt thanks are expressed to the special Health Care Professionals who provided much concern and kind treatment to Dorrie during this difficult time. Appreciation also goes to the friends, acquaintances, neighbors and family members who showed extended care and concern. Bruce will be remembered by his great memory for data and details.He had a talent for cooking and an uncanny ability to win at cards. He will be remembered for his stories and his talent for talk.
