Brent C. Howard, 64 of Richland, Washington, passed away on January 7th, 2015, at home in the arms of his wife, surrounded by his children. Brent and Marleen, his wife and the love of his life, settled in the Tri-Cities in 1983 with their young family. He was a key member in the design and building of what became 36 SunMart stores throughout Washington State. He was responsible for the Retail Division of Sun Pacific Energy until he retired last year. He touched many lives as an active member of Rotary International starting in 1988 and was president of the Columbia Center Club 2000-2001. Brent's life was filled with friends. He never knew a stranger. In his spare time, Brent was an avid golfer, trading the same $5 bet with his best friend, Dan, for over 30 years. He and his wife traveled year after year with his Core-Mark family. He also spent hours appreciating the view of his beautiful back yard from his back porch and enjoying the company of his "damn cute" wife. His greatest passion was caring for his family. Brent is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marleen, his brother, Greg, and his four children and their families including five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Thelma, and his brother, Gary. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015 at the Columbia Center Rotary Event Center, 6222 W. John Day Ave., Kennewick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brent's honor may be made to support The Chaplaincy's Hospice House or the Columbia Center Rotary Club.
