Obituary

Our beloved Brenda Lee Cullum, surrounded by the love and presence of her family, passed from this life into the next on January 10, 2025.

Brenda was born on April 12, 1962, in Kennewick, WA to Margaret and Robert Betsch. She spent her childhood and adolescent years in Moses Lake, WA. According to her sister Kristin, there was some serious sibling rivalry involving Brenda's Bachman Turner eight track and Kristin's maxed out organ! As a teenager, Brenda obtained her Certified Nurse Assistant certification and cared for her patients with her whole heart. Brenda also became a server at a local restaurant and considered this one of her favorite jobs. She truly was a people person. Alongside Brenda's love for people, was her love of music. Brenda was often rewarded first chair as a clarinet player in her high school band. After graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1981, Brenda went on to obtain her certification in Drug and Alcohol Dependency Counseling, began working with her family at Action Counseling, and became a board member of the Trauma Survivor's Support Group for the Tri-City's area. Brenda gave birth to three beautiful daughters who became her pride and joy. Brenda then met and fell in love with Michael Cullum in September 1994, and the two were united in marriage March 29, 1996.

Mike and Brenda enjoyed riding motorcycles together and had a particular love for the members of their Iron Blood Riding Club. Brenda enjoyed creating ceramic art pieces, scrapbooking, and providing catering services with Samaritan Hospital. Her love for the beach was unprecedented. She longed to be there more than anywhere else in the world. The unmeasurable amount of love Brenda had for her family served as the motivation for the courageous fight she endured to preserve her life and her time with them. This fight was an incredible example of tenacity and the compelling power of love over all circumstances.

Brenda will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her mother Margaret Fann, her father Robert Betsch, her two siblings Kristin Faught and Robert Lack, her spouse of 29 years Michael Cullum, her three children Brandi Shelton (Scott Shelton), Jayme Heupel and Rachelle Lee, Stepdaughter Whitney Kerr, her four cherished grandchildren Mckenzie, Aubree, Bailee, and Landon, her four nephews Tyler Johnson, Eric Johnson, Brian Johnson, and Michael Sherman, and numerous precious relatives and friends. Brenda has been welcomed into the arms of her brother Scott Sherman and her grandmother Clarice Rivard who preceded her in death.

Please join her family at 11:00AM on March 8, 2025, at The Living Room Church in Kennewick, WA for a service to celebrate her life and remember the ways she lovingly impacted our lives, marking them forever with her presence, her laughter, her hospitality, her grit, and her strength.
