Brenda Kay Cotten Age 73, of Kennewick, WA, passed away on March 13, 2025, following her sister to Heaven. Born on December 15, 1951, in San Diego, California, to Emmet and Betty Hathcox, Brenda's journey was one marked by love, resilience, and a deep devotion to her family. Despite facing an abundance of heartache throughout her life, Brenda's heart remained as golden as ever, full of love and kindness for everyone she encountered.

Brenda married John (Shorty) Gaines in 1970, and together they welcomed four beautiful children. Tragically, Shorty passed away in 1985, leaving Brenda to raise their children with unwavering love and strength. In 1985, Brenda met James Cotten, whom she married in January 1986. James stepped in and helped raise Brenda's four children and they then welcomed their baby girl, providing a loving and supportive environment for them all.

In 1988, they made the brave decision to leave Texas and move to Washington, where they would build a new life together. Sadly, James passed away in 1998, but Brenda's love for her family and her resilience remained unwavering. In 2004, Brenda met Travis Muller, and the two lived together and later married. Tragically, Travis passed away shortly after they wed in 2015.

Throughout her life, Brenda was an incredibly strong and loving mother, an amazing nana, and a steadfast friend. She was the heart of her family, always there to provide support and guidance, no matter the circumstances. Whether in times of joy or sorrow, Brenda was a safe place for her loved ones always ready to open her arms and her heart to welcome them home.

Her home was filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of togetherness. Brenda's devotion to her family was unconditional. She was not just a mother and grandmother but also a sister and friend who touched the lives of many. Even though she experienced deep heartache, her heart of gold continued to shine through, always giving love and support to those around her.

Sadly, her heart could not take the loss of her beloved sister Pam, and she was called to join her in heaven. She is survived by her children, Katrenia, Genny, Andrew, Amber, and Megan, and their loving partners. She also leaves behind her grand-babies and great-grandbabies, who were the light of her life. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Betty Hathcox, her sisters, and her three husbands.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2:00pm at The Living Room Church. Brenda's legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be greatly missed, her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for all who were touched by her kindness, strength, and unyielding love.
