Betty Jane (Slezak) Urbach was born November 4, 1929 in the small town of Kolin, Louisiana. She was the youngest daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Baley) Slezak, with two older brothers Joseph and Jack. Betty was 11 years old when her family moved to Tulelake, California in 1940. During high school Betty was a cheerleader and competed on the basketball team. There

in Tulelake she met her future husband Phillip (Bud) Urbach and were high school sweethearts. She married Bud when he returned from serving in the Navy during WWII. Betty was 20 years old when she married Bud on August 12,1949.

Together they won a homestead in the land lottery and moved to the northern part of Pasco, Washington to Block 15 on a 100-acre farm, where they ran a successful hay farming business. Betty was a homemaker who was a master gardener, seamstress, embroiderer, quilter and an artist in ceramics. While Betty raised their three children Phil, Randy, and Terry; she was a dedicated member of the Chiawana Grange, the Garden Club and a 4-H club leader for many years.

As their children grew, they became a rodeo family and traveled to JR rodeos, FFA rodeos, and college rodeos and watched their children compete in multiple events. Later in life they had the joy of watching their grand and great grand children compete in the same associations during their golden years. Bud and Betty, along with the help of close friends and

amily, started the Old Timers Rodeo Association and hosted many events at the Urbach Ranch.

Over the years she came to be known by all, as Grandma Betty. On April 12th, in her own home, Grandma Betty passed away peacefully. Betty will be joining her late husband Phillip (Bud) Urbach in their plot next to the Military Tank at Mueller's Desert Lawn Memorial Park. They will be laid to rest together at a graveside service Friday, May 3rd at 1pm. Betty's surviving children Phil, Randy and Terry will be hosting refreshments to follow at Life Tributes Center (1st and Dayton)
