Obituary

Betty Jean Salsbury went to be with her husband and her Heavenly Father, on Wednesday March 1st 2017 following a long fight with cancer. Betty passed away at her home in Pasco surrounded by family. She was born on March 21st 1942 in Spokane (Spokane County) Washington, the daughter of Floyd Ervin Paige and Bessie Sarah (Betty) Paige (Bodey). Betty grew up in Spokane and was in the first graduating class from Shadle Park High School. In the summer of 1958 Betty met Gary Salsbury when her friend took her to visit a dairy near Spokane. Gary was smitten with Betty and showed up at her house the next week. Her parents insisted they wait to be married until she graduated, so on June 17th 1960 (three weeks after her graduation) they were married. Betty was a wife and homemaker her entire life. After her youngest set of twins started school, she went to work as a custodian at Scootney Springs Elementary in Othello. Betty retired from that job in 2006 and she and Gary moved to Pasco. They bought a pick-up and 5th-wheel trailer and spent several winters in Quartz Site Arizona. In 2009 Gary and Betty served a mission for the LDS Church in Cove Fort Utah. Betty was a very special person that had the patience to raise 11 children that included 3 sets of twins. She enjoyed having children, grand-children and great grandchildren visit. Weekends and evenings were spent at Grandpa and Grandma's house, playing games, barbequing, singing Karaoke and reminiscing about times past. Momma Salsbury taught many youth and primary classes at church and was loved and revered by her students. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, one son Alan (Pat) and one grandson Alec Pruneda. She is survived by her children; Duane (Patty), Garalene (Ivan Pruneda) of Pasco WA; Gary Jr. (Gracie), Tom (Sarah) of Othello WA; Stan (Janie), Steve, Julie, Jason (Erin) of Kennewick, Tim (Lori) of Mountain View WY, and Dale Anne (Treis Martin) of Twin Falls ID, She has 35 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services are planned at the LDS Stake Center at 4618 Porto Lane in Pasco beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday 3/10/17. There will be a graveside service at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens in Othello WA at 2:00 p.m. the same day.
