Barb was born in Seattle General Hospital on Dec. 11, 1942, to Floyd Ted Weide and Elsie (Painter) Weide. A member of the Silent Generation she graduated with 23 classmates in 1961 in Brewster, Washington.

Barb found her way back to Seattle living there for almost 40 years, mostly near or on Queen Anne Hill. Learning on the job with Dr. Ottman in Brewster, she became a dental assistant. In Seattle she worked for Dr. Richard Bates and eventually worked at the front desk at the Boston Street office. Here she became close friends with Marj Yalowicki, Dr. Bates and his wife Brenda. Later she worked for Regence and Zenith in the dental insurance departments. She volunteered with the Juvenile Justice System on Queen Anne.

Barb loved shopping downtown Seattle, concerts, walks "on the hill," vacationing in Charleston, S.C., Savannah, Georgia, and Hawaii, visiting family in Los Angeles, theater and lunch out especially with friend Jan Bellman, and old movies. Before Google there was Barbara Weide! She knew the name of every actor, director, dress designer, makeup artist, choreographer. On Fridays after work she would stop by Olympia restaurant on Queen Anne Avenue, pick up pizza or spaghetti and meat balls, and walk up the four flights of steps to her 192Os era Galer Street apartment with a view of the Olympic Mountains (before the condos invaded!).

After her sister's husband Pook died in 2005, she packed up and moved from her beloved Seattle to Kennewick. (I called it moving to God's country; she called it God's little joke.) Living close to her sister was fun and they spent 18 years sharing family stories and little adventures. Living only five minutes apart they still talked on the phone several times a day.

A diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis with interstitial lung disease in 2017 created a new dynamic. The big sister who created Halloween costumes, cooked me tuna casserole when mom worked, shared trips to Hawaii and Victoria, bought pretty clothes (because I didn't have them but you should) now depended on her little sister for shopping, laundry, chores...and eventually total care giving.

She complained, laughed, yelled, apologized, prayed, joked, moaned, and sighed. Her (almost) last words were, "I'm a goner." Early July 16 she passed in Hospice in Kennewick under their tender care.

Preceding her are parents, Ted and Elsie Weide, brother Richard, grandparents Harrison and June Painter, grandmother Mary Edwards, and grandfather John Weide. She leaves her sister Maribeth Smith in Kennewick, her best friend since childhood Kerry Jody Dundas in Brewster, three niblings, Robin Dietsch, Tammy Galbraith, and Nathan Weide and several grand niblings. AND her cat who just walked in through the open sliding door one day, Ava. No services, at her request.
