Art Carpenter, II left this Earth on Sunday, April 18, 2010 after a long struggle with his health for most of his short life. He was born in Kennewick, Washington to Gary and Frances Carpenter on February 5, 1969. He was a proud graduate of Kennewick High School's Class of 1987. His last day was spent at the kart track in Richland watching his beloved son, Artie, race - there is no other place he loved more than a kart track and this is exactly where he wanted to be. In 1993, Art married Jennifer Campbell divorced in 2000 and in 1996, they had Art's namesake, Artie "Stubbs" Carpenter III. From that day forward, Art's sole focus in life was his son, Artie. In 2007, Art founded Kart Sport Northwest, a business that combined his passion for racing with his passion for helping others race. As the only kart shop in the Tri-Cities, this became a hub for kart racers throughout the Northwest. Art was making plans to marry his fiancé and girlfriend of four years, Christine, who was set to arrive from Manila, Philippines in May 2010. Art was very much looking forward to starting this new chapter with his beautiful bride. Art is survived by his father Gary Carpenter and wife Ruth; his son Artie, III; fiancé Christine; aunt and uncle Marlene and Glen Chalcraft; cousin Michael Christy Chalcraft and family, cousin Christopher Ann and family; aunt and uncle Bill and Christine Ziegler; cousin Roy Ziegler and family. He is preceded in death by his little brother Eddie Carpenter; his beloved mother Frances Carpenter; grandfather and namesake Art Carpenter; grandmother Florence Carpenter; and grandmother Ann Ziegler. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26th, 2010, 10:00am, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick with burial to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
