Obituary

Arnold Joseph Freidig, 72, passed away in his home on Friday, January 12, 2007. He was born on March 26, 1934 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Arnold and Elvera Freidig. Arnold grew up in the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin area. His father died when he was 7 years old. Arnold joined the Army in 1951 at the age of 17 and spent a year in Korea. After being honorably discharged in 1954, he returned to the Fond du Lac area where he held various jobs. In 1975 Arnold married Lorene Sattler. Arnold started working for K-Mart in 1974 in Hammond, Indiana as the manager of security. He and Lorene moved to Kennewick in 1976 where he helped open the K-Mart store in Kennewick. At age 50 he accomplished a life-long dream of becoming a police officer by joining the Kennewick reserve police force. His dedicated service was recognized when he was named the 1987 Tri-Cities Reserve Officer of the Year. He retired from K-Mart in 1996 after 22 years as security manager. Arnold was an enthusiast of motorcycles and hunting throughout his life. He also enjoyed the years he was involved in Cowboy Action Shooting. These hobbies and travels provided experiences for the great stories he was a master at telling. Though family members were few, he was loved by many, which is a testimony to his loyalty and dedication to his wife and those he called friends. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife Lorene. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 2:00p.m. at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick followed by a Memorial fellowship to be held at Kennewick Baptist Church.
