Arla Mary (Klein) Passmore of Kennewick passed away Monday evening, January 5th, 2015. Arla was born in Hague, North Dakota on June 18, 1936 to Valentine and Margaret Klein. She was the younger sister of Della and older sister to Beatrice Klein. At the age of 5 she moved from North Dakota to Kennewick Washington. She attended schools there, graduating from Kennewick High School in 1954. She also completed her Associates Degree in Biological Science in 1980. Arla met the love of her life in Kennewick, Robert Joseph Passmore. After a lengthy 4 week courtship, they made a lifelong commitment and were married in Kennewick on February 19, 1955. Four children were born of this marriage, two sons and two daughters. Arla was able to remain at home while the children were young and attending school. In 1964 Bob and Arla started an auto body repair and paint business, eventually becoming Bob's Auto Body. They successfully ran the business for many years, later shifting the focus to an automotive paint and supply sales business, Professional Automotive Paint Supply. Arla loved going to work and building the new business with her husband and sons. Arla was preceded in death by her parents Valentine and Margaret, her sisters Della and Beatrice. She is survived by sons Robert (Donna) and Mark (Lori), daughters Diane (Mark) Schwartz and Carol (Pat) Clark. She is also survived by grandchildren Nolan, Thomas, and Andrew Clark, Breanne and Derek Schwartz. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Arla will be remembered as a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a dedicated follower of her children's and grandchildren's sports and activities. She attended to her Catholic faith at both St. Joseph's and Holy Spirit Churches in Kennewick. The family is very grateful to the caring staff at Legacy House and to the Tri-City Chaplaincy. Also, we would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you for the special friendship of Robin Davies and Ingrid Hendrickson. A viewing and rosary will be held at the Mueller's Chapel of the Falls (314 W. 1st Ave, Kennewick) from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 9th, 2015 with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 p.m. with graveside services following at Desert Lawn Memorial Park (14th and Union, Kennewick). A reception will be held at St. Joseph's new church foyer.
