Andi was born to Carol Jean Craig and Lou Magnaghi on May 24th, 1949, in Walla Walla, WA. She was raised in College Place until they moved to Kennewick in 1953. Andi graduated from Kennewick High School in 1967 and went on to Eastern Washington University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education in the School of Psychology with a focus on Child Development: Elementary in 1971. She began her long teaching career at Fruitland in 1972 and shortly after moved to Hawthorne Elementary where she remained until she retired in 2011. She has helped countless children through her time as a reading specialist over her years and made many close friends with her fellow teachers over this timeframe. Known as Andi Retter for most of her teaching time, she remarried in 2010 to Duane Sorbel. Andi and Duane raised Spanish Arabian horses in Eltopia, and she had her own miniature donkey "Mable" whom she loved dearly. They enjoyed traveling to the Oregon Coast and a great trip to Yellowstone was enjoyed. Mom's soulmate Duane passed away in 2018. Andi loved her time watching her son play hockey and traveling with the teams over the years and forged many great hockey family relationships. She loved her time at the Oregon Coast over the years which included trips with her mom Jean Craig and Aunt Joey and close friend Doris Jean Stacey. Some of her favorite activities were bunko and stamping with her "Tribe", her close stamping friends. She had a love of all animals and wildlife and loved spending time with her grandson. Her family would like to give a special thank you to the Kadlec Cancer team for their wonderful care and guidance through tough times as well as her care team at Brookdale in Richland and care through the Hospice house. There will be a service in her honor on November 7th, 2023, at 11:00 am at The Living Room Church at 1409 S. Garfield St. in Kennewick, WA.
