It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Amer Khouri, age 58, who passed away in Tri-Cities on March 27, 2025 after a prolonged hospitalization.

He was born on February 7, 1967 in Amman, Jordan. He later graduated from the University of Jordan School of Medicine where he earned his M.D. Thereafter, he immigrated to the United States to complete his medical residency and fellowship at SUNY Brooklyn and Lankenau Hospital, respectively. He has since been a Board-Certified Oncologist, most recently serving the community at Astria Health Medical Center in Prosser.

Dr. Khouri was well-loved amongst his patients. His patients often spoke of his extraordinary compassion and his ability to be their advocate during the most challenging periods of their lives. He deeply loved his work as an oncologist and found profound fulfillment in impacting the lives of many people for 26 years. Outside of work hours, he spent much of his time keeping up with the latest medical research to ensure that his patients had the greatest chance of survival and quality of life. He embraced every patient like they were his family. Furthermore, as a testimony to his intelligence and passion for oncology, he was named the Smartest Oncologist in America by MDLinx in 2013 and 2014.

Family was at the core of his life. He was a devoted husband and loving father to two girls. His daughters were his pride and joy, and his special bond with them was evident to everyone who knew him. They looked up to their father as their greatest role model and source of inspiration, and his unconditional support is something they will always carry with them. With his family, he enjoyed travelling to the beach, playing card games, gardening in his greenhouse, watching the FIFA World Cup (go Germany!), and telling the world's best dad jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Aghadeer Hijazin; his two daughters, Natalie and Dr. Ashley Khouri; and his brother Samir Khouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sameer and Nahil Khouri. The impact of his life and legacy will continue through all who knew him and the countless patients whose lives he touched.
