Obituary

Alvin "Bud" J. Deines, 87, of Pasco, Washington passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Richland, Washington. He was born in Lyman, Nebraska on April 26, 1929 to George and Anna Deines. Bud's family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1941 during World War II, then moved to Garden Valley, Idaho in 1946 where he later met the love of his life, Marilyn, and went on to marry her on April 21, 1951. Six days later, Bud was shipped off to Korea to serve honorably in the United States Army as a tank mechanic in the 30th Ordinance Heavy Maintenance Company. After his return from the Army, Bud and Marilyn raised a family of three in Boise, Idaho. In 1971, Bud moved his family to the Tri-Cities to work for Dyna-Pak, a division of Package Machinery Company and later retired as their Research and Development Engineer. After his retirement, Bud enjoyed his passion for working with wood, building custom kitchen cabinets and various handcrafted wood work such as tables, jewelry boxes or anything that could be made of wood. He is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, his parents, numerous brothers and sisters and recently, his nephew Don Deines. He is survived by his children, Gordon Deines, Valley, Washington, Royce (Lisa) Deines, Kennewick, Washington, Connie (John) Cornwell, Pasco, Washington and a brother, Arnold Deines, Boise, Idaho. Bud was blessed with many grandchildren, Amy, Amanda, John, Dustin, Angela, Jason and Jared; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home at 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, Washington followed by a graveside service at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) at www.vfw.org.
