Alice May Barnett was born on December 6, 1918, the second of four girls, to Olive and Myron McWhinney in St. Helens, Oregon. Later the family moved to Black Diamond, Washington and eventually moved to Tacoma, Washington where the family settled. Alice grew up and attended Lincoln High School and Business College. It was at this time this quiet reserved young lady met and married the love of her life, Henry James Barnett. They remained in Tacoma while raising four boys until 1969 when they moved to Basin City, Washington. In Basin City they started a business, Farm and Home Hardware, which like her children and her community, she cherished. Her strong faith in Our Lord and Savior has served her well over the past 92 years. She was preceded in death by her three sisters and is survived by her husband of 72 years, Henry, her sons and their wives; William and Sharon of Fife, WA; Jerry and Elaine of Gig Harbor, WA; Donald and Barbara of Spokane Valley, WA and Leonard and Doris of Basin City, WA; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Basin City LDS Church, 160 Bailie Blvd., Basin City, officiated by Pastor Tony Sykes. Interment will be at The Country View Cemetery, Basin City, WA.
