Reverend William (Bill) F. Hamel, Sr., age 85, passed away at Kadlec Hospital, Richland, Washington on Saturday, July 21, 2018 after a period of failing health. Bill was born October 22, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, to his parents Winfield J. Hamel and Grace D. Jenkins. Bill graduated from Burdett College (Boston, Massachusetts) in fall of 1953 with a business degree. He worked for John Hancock insurance company before entering Bangor Theological Seminary in 1960. Bill met his wife Patricia Finch in 1960 while at seminary and they were marriage the following June, 1961. Bill received his master's degree with honors in 1966 and was ordained in the United Church of Christ, serving as a fully ordained minister for over 50 years. Bill served numerous parishes in Connecticut, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Ohio. Bill is survived by his loving wife Patricia of 58 years, son William F. Hamel, Jr., and preceded in death by son Jon Christopher Hamel who passed away in 1998. Bill inspired and touched many in his following and preaching of the Christian faith and will be dearly missed. Memorial and Committal Services will be held New Hampshire and Vermont in September.
