Wendi DeAnn Barnes, age 31, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, February 14, 2006. She died peacefully surrounded by family and friends, at the Tri-Cities Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. Wendi ?DeeDee? Coates was born June 30th, 1974 and grew up in Benton City, Washington. She was a precocious, effervescent child and was very active in school band, church, 4-H and was a gifted artist. As a teen she met the love of her life, Bert Barnes and they married in 1993. They were stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California in their early marriage, but returned to the Tri-Cities area in late 1994. They have two precious children: Alex, 11 and KayLynne, 5. As an adult Wendi also continued to be involved in 4-H, teaching her nieces and nephews as well as many others the arts of cooking, canning and raising lambs for the fair. In the last few years Wendi gained much comfort in prayer, Bible study, art, and music, including playing the tin whistle. Wendi touched so many, both in life and now in her death. She was and always will be a courageous example of Jesus? love for us and we are comforted now knowing she is in His arms. Wendi was preceded in death by four grandparents. She is survived by her loving husband Bert; children, Alex and KayLynne, of Pasco, Washington; mother, Bettie Stone; father, Dickie Coates; sister, Mary; and brother Mike Coates all of Benton City. Mother and Father- in-law Bob and Georgia Barnes of Plummer, Idaho, and many special brothers and sisters- in- law, other family members and friends. Wendi will be missed by her Christian brothers and sisters at the Assembly of God in Benton City, Westside Church of Christ in Pasco and their current church home Calvary Chapel in Kennewick. There will be a viewing Friday, February 17, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Mueller?s Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick. A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Chapel, 412 S. Vancouver in Kennewick.
