Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed to her eternal home on May 4, 2017. Wana was born October 28, 1933 in Purdy, Missouri to James Blain and Elva Mae (Reed) Purdom. She lived on the family farm until moving to Pasco in 1949. Shortly after graduating from Pasco High in 1951, she met Lee David Brush on a blind date. After a whirlwind romance, they married following his discharge from the Army in 1952, settling in Pasco. In 1959, they adopted their daughter Jennifer, and four years later their son Jeffrey. Wana began her career as a telephone operator but found time to be a campfire and Girl Scout leader, den mother, as well as parent advisor for Theta Rho. Her kids always came first. Wana was successful in everything she undertook. Her first venture was a Home Interiors business. Her daughter Jennifer and best friend Pam Leighty (Wright) learned entrepreneurial skills by helping with home interiors shows. Wana's talent for selling earned her a trip to Hawaii and a family vacation across the United States, creating lifetime memories for her children. Wana and Lee divorced in 1977. Wana met Fred Brackenbush, and they were married 1979. Her family grew to include Fred's 3 grown children (Larry, Donald, and Rita). They enjoyed 7 years together before Fred died in 1986. Holidays in the Brackenbush home were always full of love, laughter, and lots of people. After marrying Fred, Wana owned Tri-Cities Credit collection agency, which she sold in 1995 to follow her calling to help those in need. She founded Love in the Name of Christ, which mobilized churches to support and provide goods and services to struggling members of her community. Her next calling was the Shepherds House, a home for troubled girls. She worked tirelessly, creating an accredited K-12 program for these girls. Unfortunately, this dream died in 2003 when Wana's health deteriorated. Despite her health issues, Wana continued to be an independent and vibrant woman of faith. In 2008, her health required her to move from her home to Richland Life Care. A motorized wheelchair enabled her to enjoy many activities and make new friends along the way. Wana's struggles and triumphs have been an inspiration to those who have been blessed by her friendship. Her presence will be missed. Wana was preceded in death by her parents, son Jeffrey, husbands, step-son-in-law Dan Sevcik, brother-in-law Don Taylor, and great-grandson Clinton Ford. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (David) Brush-Brager - son Mitchell Brush, grandchildren Melodie, Emmilee, Kaesyn, Alexazander, Blayne, and Trystan; sister Helen Taylor - daughters Pamela (Robert) Mello and Teresa (Jim) Renfro; and Fred's children: Larry (Barbara) Brackenbush - step-sons Brian Thomas and Michael (Linde) Thomas - daughters Genesis, Michaela and Sarai and grandson Everett; Don (Lila) Brackenbush - daughters Christa and Lesa (Chris) Ford, children Brennen, Wyatt and Ashley; and Rita Sevcik - stepchildren Laura (Rick) Renicker, daughter Amanda; Anni Sevcik - son Mitchell Plough, daughter Victoria (Shane) Dietz and grandson Parker; Julie (Jim) Ruby, children Kyle and Maliea), and Paul Sevcik. Services will be held May 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 South Union Street, Kennewick WA.
