Walter Raleigh Johnny Muskrat O?Neil Jr. was born in Winchester, Ohio, on July 4, 1933 to Walter and Corinne McCracken O?Neil. Wally passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Wally was raised in Williamson, West Virginia. He always considered Williamson his home. After High School, he played baseball in Big Springs, TX, for one year, and after the season joined the Army serving in Germany, playing baseball for the Army team. When he returned home he played professionally with different farm teams. He received many baseball commendations. He continued playing baseball locally in the 60?s for the Yakima Bears and Tri-City Merchants. He worked at Pasco Pacific from 1963-1986. Wally was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed baseball, barbeques, gardening, traveling and his model trains. He loved his church, singing in the choir and looked forward to church potlucks. He is preceded in death by one sister, Jackie. He leaves behind his wife, Doris; children: Teri Myers, Kevin and his wife Debbie O?Neil, Scott O?Neil, Barry and his wife Kristin O?Neil; stepchildren: Teresa and her husband Joe Coscarart and Melina and her husband David Hall. He also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren; sisters, Jeanne Branham, Marguerite Messinger and Peggy Copley; brothers, Richard and William O?Neil. We will not forget his wonderful sense of humor, his love of sports and, in the true spirit of a fourth of July birthday, the pride he had for his country. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Kennewick, Washington or the Tri-Cities Hospice. The family also wishes to thank the Aging and Long Term Care and Senior NW Resources Offices for their supportive care. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2006 at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 10:00a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick and a memorial service will follow at 11:00a.m. at the First Christian Church on 19th and Olympia Street in Kennewick.
