Violet Mabry passed away to a better life on November 23, 2011 at her home following several months of failing health and dementia. Violet was born April 6, 1920, in Talala, Oklahoma. She was the last of seven children to be born to tenant farmers, James T. and Stella Mae Tillery Barker. She weighed just 3lbs dressed and lived her first weeks on a feather pillow on the door of the cook stove. Violet grew from that beginning, graduating from Talala High School in 1939 and then became a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a great-great-grandmother. On November 17, 1939, she married William Edward Mabry. They made their first home in Oklahoma where they welcomed two children, Rosalie and James. March 1944 found them moving to Washington State, residing in Moses Lake, Connell, and finally Richland, where Bill was working on the Manhattan Project. In 1946, their second daughter, Sharon, was born. Violet, Bill and family moved to farmland on the west side of Pasco, Washington in September 1951 and just over a year later welcomed their fourth child, Marvin, in 1952. Violet was a very active and creative person and during her life was a Brownie leader, a 4-H leader, member of the Franklin County Friendly Homemakers Club, worked as a tailor at Wades Clothing in downtown Pasco, and sold Tupperware until a stroke in 1996. She was a lifetime member of The Church of Christ, loving her Lord to the end. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, husband Bill 1982 and son James 2011. Violet is survived by her daughter Rosalie Mabry, Pasco; daughter Sharon Brunswick, Richland; son Marvin Julie Mabry, Pasco; six grandchildren Cherie Bill Gottshall, Shenandoah, PA, Suzanne Jack, Kennewick, WA, Jill Tony Beo, West Richland, WA, Jeanna Mabry, Kennewick, WA, Thomas Brunswick, Richland, WA, and Jason Hannah Mabry, West Richland, WA; 13 great-grandchildren Jonathan, William, Samantha, Victoria, Devin, Justine, Aaron, Tracey, Steven, Meg, Sadie, Braydon and Colton; one great-great-granddaughter Jenna; daughter-in-law Brenda Mabry, Pasco; sisters-in-law Emma Harris, Sylvia Landes and Mary Mabry; brother-in-law Howell Mabry; several nieces and nephews all in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kentucky. Mueller s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick is in charge of funeral services to be held on Wednesday, November 30th, 11:00 a.m., with burial following at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
