Thomas Edward Cuillier, 67, of Pasco, WA passed away on March 31, 2014 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born to parents Marge and Ed Cuillier on July 30, 1946 in Yakima, WA, where he resided until his family moved to Kennewick, WA in 1951. He graduated from Kennewick High School in 1964. Before and after graduation he worked for Safeway for five years. He attended Columbia Basin College, and enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves on December 15, 1966. On June 3, 1967 he married Raelene Massard (of Pasco, WA) in Tacoma, WA. They lived in the Tri-Cities until Tom went on active duty in 1968. Tom and Raelene lived in El Cajon, CA, while he was stationed in San Diego, CA from 1968-1970. While on active duty, Tom was on the U.S.S. Samuel Gompers AD-37 for a short period of time before being transferred to the U.S.S. Piedmont AD-17 (destroyer tenders), which were support ships for destroyers off the coast of Vietnam. He was a Gyro Compass Tech and attained the rank of IC-1. He excelled in everything he attempted, so he gained rank quickly. He served overseas for seven months during the Vietnam War, seeing parts of the world he may never have seen in his lifetime if it weren't for the Navy. They moved back to Pasco in 1970. Tom went back to work for a short period of time for Safeway, and then went to work for Columbia Electric in 1970, which was bought out by AMFAC Electric in 1972. Then it was bought out again by Consolidated Electrical Distributors in 1988. He retired from the company in June 2010 after 40 years of dedicated service. He was well liked by his customers throughout his career, and many of them remained long time friends after retirement. Michelle, our daughter, was welcomed into our family in 1973. In 1976, Tom and Raelene built a home in West Pasco, where they have resided for 38 years. In October 1978, Danny was welcomed into the family, and in April 1981, Brent was born completing our family. Tom was a Moose member for approximately 12 years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, competition shooting (Tri-City Metallic Silhouette Club for seven years), and camping with his family and friends around the Northwest. Tom was a member of the Dakota R/T Club since 1999. He loved to customize his 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T. He showed it in several car shows and won many trophies along the way. Tom loved making Raelene's heart stop by drag racing his truck, and not necessarily on a drag strip! He also enjoyed building computers and repairing them for family and friends. Tom was a die-hard Seahawk's fan who cheered them on from the start of the team to their Super Bowl Championship win in 2014. He was also a Tri-Cities Fever arena football fan and loved going to the games. Tom and Raelene would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in June 2014. A long and loving marriage is a blessing for sure. "Tomorrow is promised to no one" so live our lives as though each one were our very last. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Marge (1992) and Ed (2003) Cuillier; father in law, Ray Massard (2009); step-mother Muriel Berry-Cuillier (2012); and sister-in-law Elaine Needham (2013). Tom is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 47 years Raelene, children Michelle Cuillier-Davis, Pasco, WA; Danny (Heather), Colorado Springs, CO; and Brent (Crystal), Pasco, WA; and sisters Sharon Miller, Bellingham, WA; Patricia Brown (Dick), Kennewick, WA; Denise Dillon (Larry), Kennewick, WA; brother Mark Cuillier (Daya), Kennewick, WA; mother-in-law, Leona Massard, Kennewick, WA; brother in law Carle Needham, Yelm, WA; and his grandchildren Tiffany, Matthew, Grace, Faith, and Kendall. Tom's biggest accomplishment was his family. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren; but most of all his best friend and love of his life, Raelene. He was a man of integrity, friendliness, thoughtfulness, innate curiosity, great sense of humor, and was well respected by all. Although his life was short he brightened the lives of many. He was so courageous and positive through his long health battle. Tom had a fighting spirit and was strong willed and was definitely our "SUPERMAN". The Rosary will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Chapel; 520 S. Garfield; Kennewick, WA at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church; 520 S. Garfield; Kennewick at 1:30 p.m. Following the Mass he will be laid to rest at Desert Lawn Memorial Park; 1401 S. Union St.; Kennewick.
