Obituary

Terry Ray Hane, of Pasco, Washington, passed away February 26, 2012, in Richland, Washington. He was 66. Terry was born November 14, 1945, to Philip and Dana Hane in Sioux City, Iowa, and was the oldest of 6 siblings. The family moved to the Columbia Basin in the 1950's where they homesteaded a farm in Block 11 near Connell. Terry graduated from Connell High School in 1963, where he played football and wrestled. He was one of the first Connell wrestlers to advance to the state playoffs. Terry married Barbra Morgan in 1966. They had 2 children and made their home in Othello. Terry had careers as a mechanic, a farmer and a cropduster until he retired in 2011. Terry had many hobbies and interests throughout his life. From model airplanes to waterskiing, to racing mini-Indy and sprint cars, to restoring classic cars, he used his talents and skills in very creative ways. His hobbies brought him friends from many different circles. Auto racing and model airplane associations, and even bowling leagues, were his clubs. And of course, the different coffee shops he frequented over the years also brought many new friends. Cars were always his passion, and in the last several months when he wasn't able to get out much, the TV was always tuned to the speed channel. His passing coincided with the first-ever delay of the Daytona 500. The race had to wait until Dad had a better seat. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Hane, sister-in-law Claudette Hane, nephews Josh Scott and Drew Hane. He is survived by his wife Barb of Pasco; son Dean Wendy Hane, daughter Gina Dale Harper of Kennewick; and grandchildren Victoria and Elizabeth Guile, and Claire Harper; brothers Dan Gayle Hane, Kennewick; Andy Hane, Davenport; and sisters Jeanne Mike Scott, Pasco; and Cathy Stan Sherer, Sparks, Nevada; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
