Stanley August Stinson, born June 30, 1953, in Pasco WA, passed away in his home surrounded by his family, on May 27, 2022. He was the third child of Franklin Oliver Stinson and Leona (Hendricks) Stinson. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl (Andersen) Stinson for 12 years and Paulette (O'Connell) Stinson for 32 years. Together they have 7 children, Tyler (Heather) Stinson, Karman (Shaun) Schulz, Tahsha (Dan) Hollibaugh, Wade (Kristilyn) Stinson, Amanda Brown (Ray), Jamie (Alonzo) White, Robyn (Erin) Houston, and 28 grandchildren. Stan had an amazing sense of humor and had a joke for every occasion. He was an incredible storyteller and could draw you in and carry you through his life's story like no other. He never knew a stranger, and to know him, was to have a friend. He loved music at a very young age and was in a band in high school. He had the most beautiful tenor voice and towards the end of his life, found great solace in playing his beloved guitar. Stan loved boats and the water. He and Paulette's favorite place to be, was together on the Oregon coast. He owned many boats, and one in particular, was bought on a whim when he went to Seattle for the weekend. He bought it on Friday, then took it out on Puget Sound on Saturday where he had an accident and had to call the coast guard to tow him back through the locks. After his deflated expedition, he had the boat repaired and received a check for $97.21. He returned home two days later, like nothing had happened. This is a story only Stan could tell with great humor. Stan was a mender of broken things. He bought and mended boats, cars, and was especially gifted at mending people. Stan's most important and loved responsibility was in his own home. His family was his most prized possession, and he loved the time spent with his kids and grandkids where he was always ready with a quick smile, a hug and a word of encouragement. Stan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served as a young men's president, member of a bishopric, a member of the high council and was most remembered for his 24-year service as Stake Executive Secretary and lastly as Pasco Stake Patriarch. He was a faithful servant to our Savior Jesus Christ. He knew Him and loved Him and encouraged others to know Him as their own personal Savior. Stan was a Pascoite through and through, he was born, raised, lived and died in Pasco. After graduating from Pasco High School, he went to airline school in Inglewood, CA, and quickly returned home after his near-death experience when one of his twin engines stalled in mid- flight, to marry Cheryl, his high school sweetheart. He then picked up where he left off and continued farming, where he cultivated his love for tinkering with machinery. Shortly after the birth of their fourth child, Stan became the part owner of Quik Lube in Kennewick and in 1986 purchased his first of two convenient stores, Mr. Qwik's on Court St. in Pasco and then in 1990 he opened his second Mr. Qwik's Country in Eltopia. A few years after Cheryl passed away from cancer, Mr. Qwik's became the ultimate "dating site" for Stan where he met and fell in love with Paulette, the brown-haired beauty that caught his eye one day. In 1994 he sold Mr. Qwik's in Pasco and in 2004 sold Mr. Qwik's Country. Stan then became a consultant and worked with his very dear friend Roger Wright for the Port of Benton and other private entities, where he used his indispensable organization, business and people skills to contract and manage multiple building projects throughout the Tri-Cities area. Stan was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, his parents Frank and Leona Stinson, his Mothers and Fathers in Law, Lee and Delone Andersen, and Clifton and Janiece O'Connell. Funeral Services will be held for Stan at the Pasco Stake Center, 2004 N 24th Avenue, Pasco, WA 99301, on Friday June 3 at 11am. Viewings will be held Thursday June 2 from 6-8pm and Friday before the funeral services from 9:30-10:30am at the Pasco Stake Center.
