SOFIA RODRIGUEZ BUSTOS-ROGERS "Mama Bear" Born September 30th 1931 in Charlotte Texas Death May 21st 2016, the day Heaven gained an angel. Mom, Mama Bear, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandma, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. A special Thank-You to hospice and all staff we interacted with. Family would also like to recognize the sacrifice that Sally Rogers made by putting her life on hold and moving to Kennewick 7 years ago to assist Mom on her journey to her heavenly home. We also would like to mention the excellent care Sofia received from her granddaughter Tess " Sissy" DeHoyos, Tess spent many hours, day after day, along with Sally near the end showing unconditional love and patience that only a granddaughter who loved her grandmother with all of her heart would be capable of. We would also like to mention how much Mom enjoyed her Sunday weekly visits from Kathy Pruitt to give her a manicure and pedicure and paint those nails! (It's a girl thing) A few things about her: Mom had a heart bigger than the state of Texas, but you didn't dare 'mess' with someone she loved (we'll leave it at that) We will all miss her homemade tortillas and rice and beans which she made for most "gatherings" She was a devout Catholic and loved the Lord, her treasures in heaven must be many. She loved all animals but especially her favored Chihuahuas, and birds. She also loved growing roses and gardening. She worked many different jobs in her life time; she worked in the canneries, got her CNA and worked as a caregiver doing rural home visits (just in case you thought having eleven children wasn't enough) But if there was a baby crying within distance, look out, she would soon be cuddling it and you could literally watch the child calm in her arms aka the baby whisperer. She was a mother to many more people than you can imagine and she loved them all dearly, more than you know. She married Doug Rogers Sr. (deceased) very young and proceeded to have eleven children together. They lived migrantly moving from camp to camp picking fruit, cotton, strawberries you name it. She is preceded in death by Doug Rogers Sr., Duane Rogers (son), Dick Rogers (son), Garry "Butchie" Rogers (son), David "Crockett" Rogers (son) Grandsons: JJ, Jason, Josh, James. She is survived by Doug Rogers Jr (Laura), Dan Rogers (Ruth), Kathy Pruitt, Sandy Perez (Mario), Sally Rogers, Jerry Rogers (Julie), Glen Rogers (Kim) and one sister Sara Reyna of Texas, and many, many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren. Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements - 1401 S. Union St. Kennewick Wa. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 8th from 3 PM till 8 PM Funeral Ceremony will take place Thursday June 9th at 1:00 PM at Mueller's / Desert Lawn Memorial Park (next to Mueller's), Where Mom will be laid to rest next to Douglas Rogers Sr. and other family members. A Pot Luck Celebration of A Life Well Lived will take place afterwards at: 19105 S. Spruce St. Kennewick Wa. She leaves us all rich in memories.
