Shirlee Ann McIntyre Hansen passed away early Monday morning, January 2, 2017, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with her son, Rod, by her side. Shirlee was preceded in death in 2000 by her husband, Darrell, of 49 years and 11 months. Shirlee was born July 2, 1932 in Fort Benton, Montana. Although she and Darrell made their home in Pasco, she grew up in Connell and until recently she attended their yearly reunions. She is survived by her son Rod Hansen; her daughter Debby Black; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Virginia McIntyre and five daughters; sister-in-law Marilyn Hansen and two brother-in-laws, Vaughn and Bruce Hansen. Shirlee had 2 grandchildren, Carlee Esparza and Nick Black and their spouses who shared their three beautiful great granddaughters. Her refrigerator is decorated with many pictures of nieces, nephews, friends and family. Shirlee and Darrell were avid supporters of local high school sports. Early on in their sports watching, Mom would get so worked up that one day Dad put a scoring book in her lap. After that, she kept books at every sporting event she attended, and gave the referees a break. More than once, an umpire would by bypass the dugout and come to Grandma for the count. Her book was always right! She loved kids and many of those ball players called her Grandma Shirlee. Shirlee was an athlete in her own right. She played golf at Sun Willows for many years, and even won the Ladies Club Championship. She and Dad went on yearly trips to Lincoln City in the fall to golf and watch the World Series with their dear friends George and Frieda Thompson. She was also a Member Emeritus of the Mid- Columbia Women's Bowling Association and was inducted to the local Hall of Fame. Over the years, she held many elected positions and was usually the secretary of her leagues. She won awards for highest average, highest game in a tournament, and many first place team awards. She was proud to have attended 25 National Bowling Conventions and tournaments in many states around the country. Shirlee was always an advocate for good sportsmanship and camaraderie. Shirlee loved to swim, sing, garden, sew and she loved a clean house. She had so many talents! She even designed one of the houses where she and Dad lived. She was also a member of Lutheran Church of the Master for over 50 years, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and enjoyed fellowship. Services will be held at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St. Kennewick on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the American Cancer Society or Cancer Research of your choice, as Shirlee was a breast cancer survivor.
