Sharon Kay (Taylor) DeFord, 62, of Pasco, Washington passed away at her home, February 10, 2015. A memorial service will be held in Kennewick, Washington, Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00am at Riverview Heights Cemetery at 1200 S. Olympia St. Sharon Kay was born January 12, 1953, in Myrtle Point, Oregon to Tom Woodrow Taylor and Flora Marie (Mounce) Taylor, the youngest of five children. Sharon was a baby, when her parents' marriage ended in divorce. She lived with the family in Payette, Idaho, before her mother married Lloyd Skeen, on August 21, 1960 and moved the family to New Meadows, Idaho where she attended schools and graduated. She was like the daughter Lloyd never had. After graduating, she moved to the Boise area, then upon returning to New Meadows, married Ronald James Malvich, the father of their two children, Cortney Alan and Amanda Marie. When their marriage ended in divorce, Sharon and the children moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, then to Pasco, Washington, Payette, Fruitland, Ontario, Union, and Madras, before returning to the Tri-Cities. There she met and married the love of her life, Douglas DeFord. Sharon was a wonderful cook, she enjoyed gardening, painting, interior design, camping, fishing, boating and the coast. She and Doug were inseparable, they enjoyed travels to Winchester, Idaho to attend car shows and visit friends, and they vacationed at Seaside and ran the Columbia and the Snake River with their pontoon boat. They spent time at the American Legion and a lot of evenings entertaining their friends and family in their shop around a warm fire, where Doug tinkered on his ole Hotrods. During her illness, she was surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. Her son Cortney was her care giver to the end. Amanda was there as often as possible. Sharon is survived by her daughter Amanda (Chad) Ridgway and children Matthew, Maddie, Olivia, Samantha, and Ruby, all of Aberdeen, Washington. Her son Cortney Malvich and granddaughters Faith and Hope of Pasco, Washington. Also her sisters, Rosa (Fawn) Rupp of Pasco, Theta Ellsworth of Richland, Washington, and Joyce (Pat) Higgins of La Grande, Oregon; brother Gerald Taylor of Clarkston, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas DeFord, ex- husband Ronald Malvich and her parents.
