Sandra Jeanne Scott Engelhard, 63, passed away suddenly at her home in Connell, January 2, 2009. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by many. Sandra was a homemaker. She loved to cook, especially during the holiday seasons, and her Christmas cookies were legendary. Sandra was a voracious reader; a book a day for her was not uncommon. She loved tending the flowers and birds in her backyard. More recently, Sandra became a basketball fan, as her sophomore granddaughter Kendra is a starting guard for Shadle Park High School and 7th grade grandson Kyle is a starter on his AAU team. She was so proud of both of them. Sandra was a caregiver. She operated an in home daycare for several years and touched the lives of many Connell area children. Sandra suffered debilitating joint pain since she was 28 years old. She saw many doctors, but relief was fleeting. She had little need to tell others about her constant aches and maladies. We thank God that she is no longer in pain. Her husband of 45 years, David of Connell, her son Scott Patty and daughter Stephanie Wade Knutsen, both of Spokane, survive Sandra. Granddaughter Kendra Knutsen and grandson Kyle Knutsen of Spokane; sister Ruth Cliff Perkins of Connell and brother Ken Jaaskela of Sacramento, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive Sandra. A memorial service for Sandra will be held at a later date.
