Ruby Grace Hash Rusk was born in Fredonia, Wilson, Kansas, October 14, 1917 to Thomas Simon Hash and Lillian Dale Snowden Hash. She was the oldest of five children. She passed away June 23, 2011 in Richland, Washington. She grew up in Fredonia and attended country schools and Fredonia High School. Being raised on a farm, the work was hard and there were always chores to do and she did not graduate but, at the age of 62, she received her GED. She met John Henry Rusk in April 1936 and they were married December 12, 1936. They had three children, John Wayne, Jimmie Lee and Patsy Louise. In October 1946 they moved to Benton City, Washington, and while raising their three children, she helped by working in the fields tying grapes, packing fruit, cleaning houses, raising her own garden, canning fruit and raising chickens for eggs and meat. John passed away August 31, 1991. Throughout her life she was always helping and going to visit with others in need of comfort. She loved to visit with people her own age and enjoying going to visit other senior activities. She enjoyed the senior dancing and went regularly for many years. She enjoyed high school reunions and other city activities. She was able to see the kids that we were able to grow up with and was able to visit with so many from the area and beyond. She met Lloyd Bangs at the senior dances, which they both loved. They were married on her 80th birthday and they resided in Toppenish, Washington until he passed away January 1, 2000. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, son Wayne, two brothers Gene and John "Doc", and sister Neoma Baldwin. She is survived by her brother Walter Betty of Neodesha, Kansas, her daughter Pat Hamilton Don, and son Jim Rusk Patti of Kennewick, Washington. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Benton City, WA. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Benton City.
