Ruben Edward Hahn, Jr., 58, died January 9th, at home in Kennewick. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota on June 3, 1949. His family moved to Kennewick when he was a young child. He grew up in Kennewick and graduated from Kennewick High School. He enlisted in the Army and served in Germany from 1968 to 1972 and received an Honorable Discharge. He was a Hercules Missle crewman and received a National Defense Service Medal and was an expert rifleman with an M-14. Ruben was very patriotic and was proud to have served his country. He was a dedicated Mariner's baseball fan and never missed a game on TV. When not shown on TV, he would listen to the game on the radio. He especially loved Edgar Martinez and Ichiro, and of course Sweet Lou Pinella. He often mentioned the year the Mariner's won 116 games. He loved the game of golf and was a pretty good golfer until illness and disability prevented him from playing. He did enjoy watching it on TV, especially when Tiger Woods was playing. Ruben had worked at Exxon Nuclear in Richland, Washington for a number of years. He often spoke of his years there and the people he had worked with and all the friends he had made while he was there. Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben E. Hahn, Sr and Viola Knutsen Nelson and his brothers Jerry and Bill. He is survived by his sister Barbara Smith of Marshall, Missouri; son Nicholas Hahn of Bentonville, Arkansas; ex-wife Laurie of Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; very special stepmother Gladys Hahn of Kennewick; and very good friend Ron Feaster of Richland. He also leaves behind his companion, caregiver & best friend Maryann Dodge who will love him and miss him for eternity. There will be a private memorial service for the family and his ashes will be placed with his mother who is interned at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Veterans Organization in Ruben's name.
