Roy William Holmes passed away Monday October 29, 2018 and is now with the love of his life Sharon. After an upbringing in Prosser, he knew he wanted more in life and on a whim enlisted in the Air Force. Roy spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of Captain. While in the Air Force Captain Holmes and his family spent time in Turkey and around the United States. Captain Holmes also served in Vietnam before coming home and going back to college at nights to get his Bachelor Degree and then Masters Degree in healthcare administration. After retiring from the Air Force Roy went into hospital administration, first at Kadlec as an assistant administrator and then in Ritzville and Toppenish as an administrator for the local hospitals. Roy loved his hobbies which included cars and trains. Anyone who was in a car with Roy were always prepared to stop and watch a train if one happened to be going by. Roy was part of local model train club and helped resurrect the rail road station in Toppenish. If there was ever a question about which train rode which rail Roy was the go to guy for the answers. Second to his love of trains was his cars. Roy was a member of local car clubs and loved to find project cars, fix them up and then sell them and start a new project. In March of 1955 Roy met Sharon when they were both in a talent show, held in Richland, and Sharon's piano player didn't show up and Roy stepped in to play piano. That started a 62 year union that saw them navigate life's many obstacles and good times. Roy leaves behind three grown children Lori, Dacia and Dana and their spouses and their children. Roy was immensely proud of his children and all they accomplished and loved to visit with his grandchildren.
