Ron Fraser, age 76, passed away Wednesday, March 30th, 2011. Ron was born on December 1, 1934 in Ontario, OR, to Duncan and Ula Fraser. He grew up on a sheep ranch in the Ontario area spending winters in the low desert and summers in the mountains. Ron was blessed to have his maternal Grandparents and many local Uncles play a formative role in the Ontario years. He spent much of his childhood honing his love for the outdoors both hunting and fishing while becoming a proficient tennis player. He graduated from Ontario High School in 1953, attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande, OR and ultimately transferred and graduated from Central Washington College in 1957 with a degree in teaching. His first job was in Kahlotus, WA where he met his future wife Jean, a fellow teacher, whom he married in 1960 in Peshastin, WA. In 1961 they moved to Eugene, OR where Ron pursued his Masters in Guidance & Counseling. In 1962 the family moved to Moses Lake, WA where Ron was a Junior High counselor. In 1966 the family moved to Edmonds, WA where Ron became a Vice Principal at Mountlake Terrace High School and later in 1969 a Principal at first Meadowdale High School and later at Edmonds High School. Ron retired in 1990 and moved to Kennewick soon thereafter. Ron's favorite things were traveling, spending time in the outdoors, reading, golfing and being devoted to helping both his family and others. Fishing was a lifelong passion that he enjoyed in the company of friends and family. He had an inane sense of connecting with both friends and high school age kids. Additionally, he was blessed to have a core group of six close friends from childhood that formed a uniquely tight bond throughout his life. Ron is survived by his wife Jean of 50 years, son Doug of Bellevue, WA, granddaughters Ashley and Brooke; and sister Carla Skoglund. A memorial service will be held at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, Thursday the 7th of April at 1:00 p.m. A reception will be held at the same locale. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Edmond School District Alumni Association that provides scholarships to High School Seniors.
