ROGER LEE UNGERECHT, 85, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong Pasco resident and businessman, died February 5, 2022, with his family at his side. Born in Pasco on August 16, 1936, and graduating from Pasco High School in 1955, Roger served briefly in the National Guard. At the age of 24, he opened the popular Pasco A&W Drive-In and Family Restaurant business, which he managed from 1960 to 1978, employing many family members, Pasco High School graduates, and other residents. After selling the A&W, Roger worked tirelessly for over 35 years, including several years with his sons, operating a successful landscaping and handyman business, RC Yard Maintenance in Pasco. Roger was a regular booster and supporter of the Pasco High School boys’ basketball and football teams and loved attending their games. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching sports. He and his wife Ilene were also members of the Pasco Elks, Moose and Eagles lodges. Roger is survived and will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of more than 45 years, Ilene Ungerecht, his three sons, and daughters-in-law, Chad (Paulyn) Ungerecht of Kennewick; Kirk (Georgina) Ungerecht of Lynnwood, Washington; and Todd (Magda Lee) Ungerecht of Meridian, Idaho; grandchildren, Alexa Ungerecht and Evan Ungerecht; stepdaughter, Karen Pearson Price of Ferndale, Washington; stepson Karl Pearson of Federal Way, Washington; and many nieces, nephews, and their children. He was preceded in death by siblings Clifford Ungerecht, Loris Cousineau, Eva Mae Schouviller, Betty Roberts, and parents, John George, and Elizabeth Ungerecht. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pasco on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11 am, followed by a reception at the St. Patrick’s Parish Center.
