Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert L. Johnson, went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2008. Bob was born in Cumberland City, Tennessee to Robert L. and Larue Bryant Johnson, Sr. Bob joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served in the Korean War. At age 20 Bob transferred to the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War. In 1957, Bob met the love of his life and married Rosemary Davenport of Ephrata, Washington. Bob served 23 years in the service of this nation, being awarded numerous medals and citations, including the Air Force Air Cross. Bob retired as a Master Sergeant in 1971, and moved to Kennewick, Washington. He worked as a storekeeper at the Hanford Reservation until retiring. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rosemary; sons Mark and wife Lynette of Spokane & Brian and wife Gaylin of West Richland; daughter Debbie Cleveland and husband Curtis of Kennewick; grandchildren Deena, Kimberly, Catherine, Alyssa and Chad; and one great grandson, Cameron. Bob was famous for his ability to speak with anyone about most anything. This was exhibited by his run for the State Legislature in 1984. All who have ever met Bob would remember him. All who ever knew him will certainly miss him. God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around You and whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes We watched you suffer And saw you fading fast away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest. God broke our heart to prove to us, He only takes the best. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 5pm to 8pm, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home located at 1401 S. Union Street in Kennewick with Holy Rosary beginning at 6:30pm. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 17th, 10:00am, at the Catholic Parish of the Holy Spirit, 7409 West Clearwater Avenue in Kennewick.
