Robert Eugene Dyer, Sr. passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 4, 2010 in Richland, Washington. Bob was born on September 7, 1936 in Everett, Washington to Peter and Georgia Dyer. He was the youngest of four and the only boy. He was raised in Wenatchee, Washington and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1955. Soon after graduation, Bob served eight years in the U.S. Navy in Intelligence. He then worked in the banking industry for many years until he heard his true calling as a teacher. A graduated of Central Washington University, Bob spent the remainder of his professional career teaching in Juneau, Alaska, Soap Lake, Washington and Finley, Washington. He retired from education in 2001. Bob spent the majority of his tenure as a teacher in Alternative High Schools. His passion for teaching and ability to relate to all walks of life enabled him to reach the unreachable, teach the un-teachable and make permanent changes in the lives of all that came in contact with him. Bob truly loved his students. Bob's unique life spanned an array of loves from his experience as a trapeze artist in the Wenatchee Youth Circus, to days as a pool shark, hours of Pinochle, to his fishing prowess, and his constant battle with his high golf handicap. Bob was truly a one of a kind friend, father, papa and husband. We are all blessed to have had him in our lives. Robert is survived by his wife Noreen of Kennewick, son Robert Eugene Dyer, Jr. of Mountlake Terrace; daughter Lori Dyer of Mountlake Terrace; daughter Vikki Dolman fiancé錁 Bob Fogelson of Spokane; and son Stephen wife Shannon Dyer of Kennewick. Papa had many grandchildren Robby, David, Jonathon, and Danny from Bob, Jr.; Haley special friend Colton and Kurtis from Vikki; Kelly, Derek and Mia from Stephen. He is also survived by his sister Jackie Gibbs of Wenatchee; numerous nieces and nephews, and last but not least, his faithful companion, his Chihuahua Bailey. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12th, at 1:00 p.m., at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on the corner of 10th and Union in Kennewick. The celebration of Bob's life will follow at the home of Stephen and Shannon Dyer.
