Raymond H. Beauchamp, 77 of Kennewick, WA, went home to his Lord and joined his wife and soul mate Donna on July 13, 2014. Raymond was born August 27th 1936 to parents Clifford and Blanche Beauchamp in Republic Co. Kansas. As a young boy Raymond worked hard on his parent's farm and was a part of the generation that experienced the Great Depression. In 1947 his family moved to Kennewick, WA where he attended school. He was a member of the 1954 Graduating class at Kennewick High School. In 1965 he married his wife of 48years Donna Beauchamp. Together they raised a blended family: Roger Sargent of Richland, WA; Monty (Jeannie) Beauchamp of San Diego, Ca; Vicki Nelson of Kennewick, WA; Lora Pearson (Michael) of Kennewick, WA; Diane Bolliger of San Diego, CA; Julie (John) Kranz of Pasco, WA; Marty (Tiffany) Beauchamp of Kennewick, WA; Jerry (Debbie) Rosane of Kennewick, WA; Brenda Rudolph of Santa Rosa, CA Raymond was blessed with 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by his brother Melvin (Marge) Beauchamp of Marysville, WA; along with his nieces, nephews and cousins. Raymond began his career just out of High School at the Hanford Area beginning at General Electric and then Battelle Northwest Laboratories where he retired from after many years. During his career as a Metallurgist in the fuels and materials dept. he specialized in Optical Metallography; he was awarded many honors and medals from both the American and International Metallographic Society including the Pierre Jacquet Gold Medal and the Francis E. Lucas award. Raymond especially enjoyed his work with NASA and the Smithsonian Institute. He developed a special technique for the microscopic studies of Moon Rock and meteorites. Beginning at a very young age Raymond taught himself how to play the steel (pedal) guitar. He and his brother started a band in their teen years playing music around this area as well as on the radio. Throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's Raymond was a member of several country bands playing locally and in Oregon. During this time he and his band were asked to backup various Country Legends such as; Buck Owens, Marty Robbins and Wynn Stewart. Raymond's steel guitar music was loved by many. During his retirement years Raymond and band "The Westerners" shared their talents with the areas Retirement, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facilities which brought great joy to the residents. Raymond took great pride and joy in his home where he spent many hours creating beautiful landscaping projects. He loved sports and never missed a Mariners, Husky, or Seahawks game. He will be both admired and remembered as a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Raymond remained strong throughout his battle with cancer and lovingly took care of his wife through hers, never complaining, enduring it all with grace and determination. We will all miss his presence dearly. Viewing will be held Friday July 18th, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday 2:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. A reception will follow the service. The family would like to give a special thank you to the P.C.M. and Hospice nurses who helped care for our Dad during his final days at home.
