Priscilla Garcia was born in Los Angeles on September 6, 1924 to Jose and Nina Sanchez. Her passion for life was sparked by her father who urged her to look to the horizons and to always be curious about what was beyond. Priscilla worked during WWII as a "Rosie the Riveter". After the war, she moved on to work as a short order cook, managed several small businesses and opened her home to many foster children where she always included them as part of her own family. She worked as a janitor, service person, and tool room attendant at the FFTF, Hanford Project until retirement. In her retirement she became a volunteer for the senior companion program and with the Kennewick police auxiliary. In every pursuit, she brought a brand of integrity always imparting a sense of responsibility, accountability and impeccable work ethic. A woman ahead of her time, she loved technology always being the "first" to get the latest T.V., appliance, gadget, and "jazzy" car. All sorts of music could be heard coming from her home on a top of the line sound system. She never knew a stranger. Her home was always open to all. A lover of nature she planted hundreds of trees and tended many outdoor gardens throughout her life. She conserved water, electricity and you could always see her picking up rubbish on the side of roads. Her insatiable curiosity carried her to far off lands from all corners of the United States to Japan to Europe, Australia and more. She visited the sites but she saw the people, talking with the locals to learn their personal stories. She shared what she learned and always encouraged her kids to travel and learn no matter where they were in the world. Priscilla was such a strong, independent woman whose greatest strength was the love for her family and the pride she took in their many accomplishments. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose, her mother & father, one sister and a grandson. She is survived by her children, William "Bill" Carreon Nancy of Kansas, Il, Patricia Barajas Joe of Kennewick, WA, Joana Garcia Michael Edinger of Washington D.C., six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation for the outstanding and loving care Priscilla received from the staff at Life Care of Kennewick.
