Pearl Evelyn Cook Pierson, 90, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2014 in Richland, WA. She was born in Show Low, AZ on September 4, 1923 to James Frank Cook and Dicy Lethora Adams Cook. Pearl lived in Show Low, AZ as a child and later the family moved to Colorado. As a young adult she moved to Nampa, Idaho with her family. Her mother died when she was only 18 months old and she was raised by her mother's parents, George and Ruth Adams. They were the only parents that she knew and always called them "Mom" and "Daddy". She married Melvin Kite in Nampa, ID in 1940 and they had two sons, Donald and Jerry. They were divorced in 1947. She worked as a welder during WWII, helping to build troop transport ships but was a nurse most of her adult life working in a number of different hospitals and several nursing homes as a medications nurse. She was a dedicated and hardworking individual who loved helping people, and was very friendly to all. She loved to travel and visited a number of different countries as well as much of the USA. Perhaps her greatest enjoyment was her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother to her children and sacrificed all she had to raise them. We will miss her gentle ways and beautiful smile. She is survived by her sons Jerry, American Fork, UT; and Thomas, Kennewick; along with 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Donald, her husband, and her nine brothers and sisters. We also express our appreciation to the staff of Richland Gardens Assisted Living for their tender loving and respectful care of Pearl. Pearl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S Union Street with viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. Dedication of the grave will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
