Michele Vargas was 39 years old when she was called home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2011. She was a long time resident of Pasco. At the time of her death she was patient at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she had been since April 3, 2011 due to a severe and complex reaction to medication. The vast majority of her time at Harborview was spent in and out of the Intensive Care Unit. Michele was born on November 11, 1971 in Toppenish, Washington, to her parents Blanca Elizondo and Jesus Vargas. Growing up Michele attended Pasco and Richland schools and later on in her life she obtained her Associates degree at Columbia Basin College. She worked for the Pasco School District at New Horizons High School as a secretary. Michele is survived by her 3 children, Shakell Walker, Isai Garza and Jesseka Garza; along with her parents Blanca Elizondo and Jesus Vargas; siblings, Erasmo Cantu, Jessica Cantu and Esteban Cantu; nephew Kadin Garcia; nieces, Mercedez Martinez and Kenna Cantu; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Michele is preceded in death by her beloved brother Jesus Vargas, and her grandfather Jesus Vargas. Michele was an amazing person, a woman of strength, courage and will power, determined to beat the odds against her! If someone said it couldn't be done... She set out to prove that it could. She was fearless and never gave up. Michele had a great sense of humor, and a big heart! She loved to joke and have a good time, there was an amazing energy about her that drew people to her and made them want to be around her! Above all else she was a most dedicated mother who loved and protected her children fiercely... There will never be another like her. A rosary will be held on Sunday August 28, 2011 at 6:00 pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco with funeral services and celebration of her life following on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 12:00pm at St. Patrick's church and burial to follow at City View Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held after the burial in the St. Patrick's gym.
