Obituary

Merridy Elizabeth Loewen passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at her home. Merridy was born in Spokane, Washington on June 20,1949 to parents John H and MaryAnn (Fahlman) Loewen of Connell, Washington. She was 68 years old. Merridy attended all 12 school years in the Connell School District, graduating in 1967. She played the piano, oboe and enjoyed participating in the marching band. She was active in Methodist Church youth groups and 4-H where her sewing abilities took her to state competitions. During the summers she drove wheat truck for her dad on their farm. She began her career at Lamb Weston where she was employed her entire career except for two years when she was employed at the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company in Portland. She was a loyal hard-working employee. She retired from Lamb Weston in May. Merridy's travels took her through the Amish Country, Nashville, and many trips to Las Vegas. She enjoyed her tole painting cruises to the Caribbean. Besides tole painting Merridy enjoyed online games, gardening and her cats. Merridy is survived by a daughter, Marlene Kemp of Custer, KY, sister Karen (Craig) Lyle of Walla Walla, brother Dwight (Karen) of Citrus Heights, CA. and 6 grandchildren, Chris, Kelly, John, Matthew, Eric, and Myranda. Merridy was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at 2:00pm at Kennewick First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Tri-City Chaplaincy or Benton Franklin Humane Society.
