Mary Patricia (Pat) (Ackley) Morrow left us on April 1, 2016, in Kennewick, Washington. She was 80 years old. Mom was born December 25, 1935, in Escanaba, Michigan, to Lloyd Gregory Ackley and Helen Frances (Scheer) Ackley. When asked about her special birth date, she would always enthusiastically pronounce "Me and Jesus!" In the mid-1940s, the family moved from Michigan to Richland, Washington, where Papa (her dad) had a job with General Electric. Mom attended Columbia High School in Richland, where she met a strapping, handsome fellow named Jack Morrow. It was true love—a marriage occurring on February 20, 1953, that lasted 63 years until her death and produced four children. Mom and dad settled in Kennewick, Washington. Mom worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory from 1965 until 1995, where she retired as a Financial Specialist. She worked hourly for PNNL for a year or two after that, then as a sample demonstrator at Costco, before she finally, truly retired. Mom went by many names: Pat, Patty, Patty Buttons (when you wanted to tease and annoy her), mom, and her favorite—grandma. She loved her family, especially her grandkids. She loved going to their school and sporting events, having the family over for Sunday dinner, and celebrating birthdays – hers and family members. We always remember eating way too much Baskin Robbins ice cream cake! In her later years, she enjoyed mall walking, visiting with her neighbors, and going to Wildhorse for day trips—we'd always tease her when she called to say she won $300 by asking her how much she spent to win that $300! And she LOVED her Seattle Mariners, never giving up on them each season when many others did. Mom is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jack Morrow, Kennewick. Daughter Catherine (Steve) Stein of Bothell, Washington, and their children, Michael (Katie) Stein and Sara Stein; son Jeff (Connie) Morrow of Kennewick, Washington, and their daughters Rachel (Jake) Browning and Hallie Morrow; and daughter Mary Ann (Mark) Showalter of Richland, Washington, and their son John (Jennica) Showalter. Granddaughters Heather (Josh) Starkey and Michelle Morrow, and great-grandchildren Avianna and Kaiden Stein. Her siblings, Jean Kruse, Kirkland, Washington; and Bob (Betty) Ackley, Placerville, California. Sister-in-law Marjorie Ackley, Florida. Many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Pat. Grand dogs Danny and Josie Morrow and Butch W. Showalter. Greeting mom in Heaven are her parents; son Mike Morrow, whom she grieved every day since his death in November 2010; grandson Chris Morrow; siblings Betty Ackley and Bill Ackley; and brother- and sister-in-law Bud and Melba Keene. Mom and dad were faithful, longtime members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kennewick, attending mass without fail every week until ill health last fall prevented their attendance. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's on Friday, April 15, in the old Chapel. A rosary will be held at 10 a.m., with funeral mass at 11 a.m., and a reception following in Dillon Hall. A short gathering will be at Desert Lawn cemetery at 1:30 p.m. for inurnment. We want to thank Hospice (Lisa, Amy, Chaplain Craig) for their compassionate, loving care of mom (and dad) during the past six months. Thank you! We are so appreciative that mom and dad were able to live together until the end. We thank all of the staff at Fieldstone Memory Care, where they resided the past six months, for their love, support, and superb care of mom as her health declined. You are truly angels.
