Mary Louise Cournyer, age 91, of Pasco, went to be with the Lord the 16th day of January 2006. She was born to Michael and Anna Roach on November 21, 1914 in Walla Walla, WA where she remained for the next 38 years. She graduated from St. Vincent?s Academy in 1932. Mary then attended and graduated from Walla Walla Business College. She met and later married Rex Cournyer on September 23, 1936. They went on to have two children, Richard and Kathryn Kass. Mary worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and Metropolitan Life Insurance. In 1952, they moved to Lewiston, ID. She was a bookkeeper for her husband?s business and very active in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and School where she served as President of the Altar Society and head of the school?s PTA program. In 1966, they moved to Pasco where she worked as a legal secretary. Mary finished her career as a legal secretary at the Franklin County Prosecutor?s office retiring in 1984. We would like to thank the staff and management of Alterra Wynwood Assisted Living where mom has resided since dad?s passing three years ago. There are no words that can thank her family at Alterra for their caring ways and love. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Cournyer, daughter, Kathryn Kass Magula, and brothers, Jack and Ed Roach. She is survived by her son, Richard Cournyer and Barbara Zeigler, of Pasco; brother, Bill Roach, of Walla Walla; and long-time friend, Karen Alexander, of Pasco. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Mueller?s Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court Street, Pasco, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, 1320 W. Henry, Pasco. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336 or to St. Patrick?s Catholic School, 1016 North 14th Ave., Pasco, WA 99301. Viewing will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mueller?s Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco.
