Mary L. Peltier, of Pasco, was called home by the Lord on July 28, 2009 at the age of 81. She was born in Peru, Nebraska on October 19, 1927 to Blanche and Elmer Gilliland. At the age of 11 years, her family moved to Falls City, Nebraska where Mary graduated from high school with honors in May of 1945. She attended Peru State College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught school in Nebraska for 16 years before moving to Pasco in 1967 with her family. Mary continued her education and earned her fifth year of college at Eastern Washington University. She was an elementary school teacher in the Pasco School District for 23 years at Robert Frost and Mark Twain. She retired in June 1990. Upon retirement she married John Peltier in August of 1990. Mary and John did extensive traveling and had a winter home for five years in Bullhead City, Arizona. Mary's interests included collecting lapel pins from all areas of her travels. She also enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle with her friends. Mary was a member of Retired Teachers. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Mary is survived by her husband, John; daughter Lisa Mike Johnson; grandsons Richard and Brandon, all of Pasco; one stepdaughter, Sherri Gary Rockholt and sons Joshua and Christoffer of Terreboone, Oregon. Mary is also survived by two sisters Mildred Melvin Rieschick of Falls City, Nebraska & Barbara Ralph Asdell of Sunlakes, Arizona; two nieces, two nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Larry, and nephew Dennis Rieschick. The family would like to thank Life Care Center of Richland, Dr. Frank Cole and family friend Adrienne Ham for the care and support they have offered to Mary and her family. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009, 11:00am, at Riverview United Methodist Church, 4012 W. Court Street, Pasco. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Mary's name to Riverview United Methodist Church
